Building Community
with Birdhouses

Module Creation

Learners don't enroll in MBA programs to build birdhouses. So, when the challenge was presented by the Ivey Business School to marry these two concepts together in a creative and cohesive experience, I knew buy-in would be a key consideration. Presented solely with a birdhouse picture and tasked to teach others to replicate it, I realized that team building was a perfect pathway to support social presence and networking while enriching business expertise.

With that in mind, I designed the module around the idea that business leaders work best when they can perform the basics of any role in their organization—including manual labour. I built the module as a beginner workshop guide, equipping learners with all they needed to leverage the project to suit the needs of birds and learners alike.
